Quinta de la Rosa Late Bottled Vintage Port

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Compared to the tawny Port, this one is a 'no guts, no glory' style. It's a rich, full-bodied Port that shows ultra-ripe red berries and dried fruits on the nose, with sniffs of licorice and cinnamon. The palate is fullsome and lush, with black cherry and chocolate flavours, a reasonable amount of sweetness, fine tannins, and a smooth, warm, soft spice finish. It comes into it's own with vintage cheddar.

Winemaker's Notes

Traditional port varieties, mainly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz from La Rosa’s A graded vineyards.

A lively, profound ruby colour with initial young, fresh aromas of wild berries and dog roses („esteva.) whilst also showing sweeter notes like those wafts emanating from a cake shop. On the palate, it has much vigour and strength, with a seductive roundness and „more-ish. quality encouraging you to take another sip. The port has extraordinary structure and tannins giving it length and guaranteeing its longevity.

This Port has not been filtered and might throw a light sediment but should not require decanting. Delicious with dessert, especially chocolate, cheese or on its own.
