Reschke Bull Trader Cabernet Merlot

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The cattle logo on the bottle and the Bull Trader name come from the fact that the Reschke’s started cattle farming in Coonawarra over a century ago, now the property makes wonderful wines so the cattle bred on the property know they will be paired alongside great wine when the call for slaughter comes. Full of lifted red berries with a rich texture this is a classic case of blending done well. There’s blackberry and a lick of regional mint on the palate while spicy oak rounds out the finish. This is comfort drinking at its finest.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Very deep ruby red.

Bouquet: Very ripe red berry fruits and spicy oak.

Palate: Full bodied with a warm rich texture. Blackberry and classic minty fruit characters nicely balanced with spicy oak. The palate finishes with toasty oak giving the palate length and richness.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
An unequivocally good example of the blend, with an almost chocolatey richness folded within the blackcurrant and cassis fruit; ripe, fine tannins and balanced oak.

Big, jammy aromas and rich, savoury flavours with slightly grippy tannins. Holding up well.

Some development, with floral varietal cassis aromas and some complex cedar notes; fresh, lively and silky on the finish; ready now. Value plus.

Nick Stock (2004 Vintage) says
Plenty of trademark Coonawarra mint and chocolate; this 2004 has settled nicely, very integrated and right in the zone showing cool berry-fruit, ripe herbs and smoky oak complexity. The palate rolls in supple and soft with blackcurrant fruit, some mint and sturdy chewy tannins.

WINESTATE (2004 Vintage) says
Oaky nose and very oaky palate but it has outstanding flavour depth and persistence.
