Cracka Review

Coonawarra Shiraz often gets overlooked as Cabernet is the most famous grape variety in the region but we love what the famed terra rossa soil of the region can do to Australia’s most loved grape. Medium bodied in alcohol and with clever oak usage, this wine is lifted with violets and cedar. Blackberry and vanillin oak on the palate before revealing stylish complexity and firm natural acids that ensure it’s a keeper. Like the label, go to your nearest bull trader and ask him for a stellar cut to match this wine.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Deep crimson almost black.

Bouquet: Mulberry with a hint of ground black pepper and charry oak.

Palate: Medium to full bodied with a warm rich texture. The blackberry and savoury fruit predominates. The flavours finish with toasty vanilla oak giving the palate length and richness.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
A light- to medium-bodied wine with spicy aromas and a fresh, tangy palate with a mix of black fruits and spice. Stylish packaging.

Well-integrated bouquet - slightly lean and closed for now. Palate fuller and sweeter, with well-aged berry/oak flavours and long, soft tannins.
