The Hut Block? I've always been curious whether there actually was a hut on a vineyard block (perhaps a hut surrounded by vines) which provided the grapes for this. I don't think so but hey it sure sounds good. Regardless this is good juice, solid wine even, showcasing the oft forgotten glories of McLaren Vale Cabernet. Yum

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Deep red with scarlet highlights.

Nose: Fragrant, ripe and beautifully varietal, the 2012 Hut block has excellent mint, cassis and mocha characters with integrated vanillin and cinnamon oak.

Palate: Vibrant ripe palate with succulent sweet fruit and fine, long and soft tannins. It is beautifully varietal and finishes with excellent persistence.

Food: This wine will be an attractive accompaniment to any full flavoured meal.

Cellaring: Appealing on release and has sufficient structure for 6-8 years of cellaring.

Alcohol: 14%

Winemaking: The fruit selected for this wine comes from our vineyard blocks to the south of the McLaren Vale township. Some oak fermentation has been used to enhance the aroma of the wine. The individual ferments were assembled on the first racking to allow the blend to mature as one wine. Our philosophy is to augment, rather than dominate, the fruit with oak and as a result 25% of the oak is new or one year old, with the remaining being used in the previous blends.
