Rippon Emma's Block Mature Vine Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
The debut 2008 vintage is from an east-facing, lakefront block at Lake Wanaka, in Central Otago. Matured for 17 months in French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it's a very 'feminine', graceful style of Pinot Noir, spicy and supple, with hints of herbs, and excellent complexity and drive. Very subtle and savoury, the 2009 is deeply coloured and complex, with strong cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, fine-grained tannins and a tight, youthful finish. Open 2013+.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
A deeper colour and a more assertive fruit impression on the nose. This has a lovely sheen of cinnamon and fine, flinty schist minerals; the oak adds some cedary dressing too. This has much to give aromatically; time will reveal a fascinating wine, cooler for now, with light roasting herbs too. The palate has a sturdy frame of fine tannin that dissolves slowly through a comet-like finish. Really lovely spread and shape here, succulent and assertive to the very end.
