Robert Oatley Signature Series McLaren Vale Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

McLaren Vale is going through some subtle changes recently, and it's all for the better. With this offering from Robert Oatley, you can explore the style without paying a huge amount of money for it. It's a very fruit-driven, friendly style and shows lots of dark berries and plums on the nose, along with some dark chocolate and soft spice. The palate is fulsome and fleshy without being overripe, with fine-grained tannins, poised acidity, and a juicy fruit finish. Excellent with lamb chops.

Winemaker's Notes

We’ve been a fan of McLaren Vale Shiraz for many years now, yet have been keen to progress the traditional style, to wines with brighter fruit, less obvious alcohol and minimal reliance on oak. We’ve made a very accessible, well-loved style that’s a proven hit with fans of the variety.

We selected premium parcels of Shiraz from around the Blewitt Springs – Willunga area of southern McLaren Vale, where the hills run down to the ocean. Fermented on skins in a combination of open and closed fermenters and matured in French oak for 12-14 months. Enjoy now to 2020-2025.

Soft, fleshy-textured Shiraz displaying blueberries and spice, supple tannins and stylish French oak influence.

A classic rendition of McLaren Vale s red fruits, plums and licorice shiraz style here. The oak influence is subtle but adds some spice and there s a tarry, earthy thread too. The palate has a supple roundness and softness to it, very even and silky. This is made with simple satisfaction in mind.
