Spice and attractive herbaceous nuances from the use of whole bunches; the palate is fresh and focused, distinctly savoury and firm in nature, and the 7% of Cabernet provides backbone and drive; a long and toasty finish.

Vintage conditions haven't been great in Mudgee in recent years, though the tide is slowly turning back in its favour. Mudgee is a great region, full of history - the vines used to grow this wine are thirty years old. A pretty wine. Smells and tastes of vanilla hazelnut, plump mixed berries, pepper, dried herbs and spice. Tastes like a wine that has been well seasoned. It's medium-bodied, with loose-knit, chalky tannins and lots of nutty, berried flavour. The acidity might be a touch forced but it's a wine of charm and real appeal. A stint in the cellar would do it no harm at all.
