Rochford Pinot Noir

Cracka Review

This wine is mid plum in colour and of brilliant clarity. The nose shows bright Pinot fruit combined with spice and savoury characters. The palate is richly structured with flavours of dark cherry and plum. The finish is long and silky.

A pretty, light- to medium-bodied wine; predominantly red fruits; fine, elegant texture and structure; considerable length with the peacock's tail opening on the finish.

Complex and intense; savoury, forest floor edges to spice and dark plum fruit; long finish.

James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; a clean bouquet with most attractive plummy/cherry fruit is complexed by a neat touch of toasty oak. The palate is smooth, with perfectly ripened fruit, and the silky texture and length of top-class Pinot Noir. A multiple trophy winner, first at the 2001 Royal Melbourne Wine Show (Best Pinot Noir of Show) and then at the 2001 Macedon Ranges Wine Exhibition for Best Wine of Show.

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Medium red; a very potent bouquet with cherry and plum fruit complexed by stemmy tones. The palate is powerful; forest and stem characters are woven through the intense dark berry fruit on a long finish.
