Cracka Review

Rochford winery has become a tourist destination in its own right. Not only does it host concerts with International stars, it also boasts a 4WD track, hot air ballooning and an amazing cellar door experience. If your not exhausted after all those activities you can at least try their stellar wine line up, which includes this Cabernet. It’s laden with cassis and dark berries with spicy, savoury oak. It finishes long and firm with sweet berries and soft tannins.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep plum red in colour and brilliant in clarity. The nose is complex showing cassis and dark berry fruits overlayed with spicy oak and savoury notes. The palate is full and smooth with forest berries and menthol notes. The finish is long with firm, sweet tannins.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2006 Vintage) says
This is a classy wine from an increasingly switched-on producer. Rochford has also become a hub in terms of concerts - check out their website: there's always something going on. A pretty wine. It's bright, fragrant and juicy, its flavours of red fruit, basil and slippery-smooth cedary oak set at a handsome pitch. There's a note of bitter chocolate through the finish, but it only adds to the appeal - we are fans of this. It has structure and class and puts the noble cabernet grape to good effect.
