RockBare Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

An extra couple of years has done the world of good here, making for something much more complete than it would have been as a younger wine. Wine is a bit like people in that regard...

It's a savoury, meaty wine though this RockBare, drawn from a very good vintage in McLaren Vale and looking very pizza friendly indeed. A sausage pizza we think,,,

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Crimson

Bouquet: The wonderful comforting smells of yesteryear that I remember from my grandparent’s house, the ones that seem lost in this highly homogenised world we live in today, are evident in this wine. Pink musk notes from the lolly jar, clove spices from the cupboard, and the rhubarb pudding baking in the oven. All mashed up with the wafts of scent from dry leaves of the old lemon tree as they crunch underfoot, and even the dusty wooden box smells from Grandpa’s old workshop are there too.

Palate The palate is opulent but elegant, viscous and supple. It shows the spice and cherry typical of McLaren Vale Grenache, together with the juiciness of Shiraz and the tannins of Mourvedre. Infinitely fine tannins rise long after swallowing, leaving the drinker with a final blast of dark chocolates and sweet alcohol.

A potent, heady mix of Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre; demands food to quell the fire.
Australian Wine Companion 2010
WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Blue fruit bouquet with floral violet complexity. Long, velvety-smooth, savoury palate with flavours in perfect balance with the oak, tannins and acid.
