Cracka Review

An iconic Barossan Shiraz, this is such a charismatic wine. The story here is all about the relationship between old school Barossa grapegrowers and suitably old school Barossan winemaking. The net result is a hearty, worthy, full flavoured of charm and depth. Icon wine indeed.

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
A classic, long-living example of why 2004 is so highly rated, its deep, brambly aromas of dark cherries, blueberries, blackberries, sweet coconut ice/vanilla oak overlie meaty, smoky and slightly reductive complexity. Deeply and richly layered, it's ripe and juicy delivering a warm and fractionally spirity expression of small berries and smoky undertones framed by firm but velvet-smooth and loose-knit tannins. Its natural and balanced, without a hint of overcooked fruit.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
A complete Barossa traditional shiraz; moderate alcohol, oak and tannins, yet full of flavour and character. Has taken full advantage of a very good vintage. In its own-branded, high-shouldered brown bottle.

Beautiful smell, beautiful taste, beautiful finish.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; classic exercise in restraint; an array of black fruits on a long palate; fine, savoury tannins; minimal oak.
Australian Wine Companion 2006
Jeremy Oliver (2002 Vintage) says
A contemporary Barossa shiraz of intensity, ripeness, warmth and polish, this exceptional wine is unashamedly concentrated and densely packed with deep, dark, spicy fruit. It's warm and spirity, with a heady, spicy and peppery bouquet steeped in aromas of dark plums, cassis and blackberries, backed by chocolate/walnut oak and meaty undertones of game and leather. Its succulent, creamy palate is deeper than an ocean trench, saturated with vibrant dark fruit flavours, spice and sweet coffee/mocha oak. Framed by fine, velvet-smooth tannins, it's a near-perfect example of the popular expression of super-ripe shiraz.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2002 Vintage) says
Porty and overdone, but intense.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (1998 Vintage) says
Fat with dark-berried flavour. Luscious.
