Roda 1 Reserva Tempranillo (500ml)

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is the main event from Roda. It is where 'old school' Spain meets 'new school', and the result is complex. There are plenty of ripe, fleshy fruits in the plums and black cherry spectrum on the nose, together with smells of cedary oak, earthy spices and mocha. The palate is full-bodied, plush and generously oaked, with rich cherry and raisin flavours, licks of dark chocolate, firm, chalky tannins, and a dry, spicy, coffee finish. It's a butch style that will cellar for years.

Winemaker's Notes

The region is divided into a high, cool part with poor soils (Riojas Alta and Alavesa) and a relatively low-altitude, warm, alluvial part (Rioja Baja).

Blue-black and beautiful to smell: meat’n’blood, road metal minerals, violet/neroli florals. Great spiciness with fine oak on the back palate; fruit runs in the plum and cola range. Power and enormous finesse unfolds like a perfectly told story. Wonderful wine, 100% Tempranillo.
