The lush 1997 vintage is based on two pickings of Te Kauwhata fruit (at 34 and 38 brix), fermented to a residual sugar level of 152 grams/litre. A golden, mouthfilling wine with concentrated peach/honey flavours, sweet and treacly, it's very rich, but in the final analysis less exquisite and finely balanced than the leading dessert wines from further south.
