Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Strong colour; well-made, with black fruits, chocolate, spice and earth; appropriate warm oak; good overall mouthfeel.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Savoury, earthy, spicy style; medium-bodied; black fruits and lingering, earthy tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
Ken Gargett (2001 Vintage) says
The Hill Of Gold...mmm, what Rosemount/Southcorp wouldn't do for a Hill of Gold at the moment. The funny thing is that at the time when their financial stocks are at their lowest ebb, their winemaking stocks seem to be turning into an upswing. This is terrific full-bodied faultless shiraz from the Mudgee region, and it won't cost you a Hill of GoldÑmore like a molehill of silver.
Don't Buy Wine Without Me 2005 2005
James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Medium to full red-purple; clean, smooth black fruit aromas, quite ripe, and positive oak lead into a palate with attractively sweet and smooth red and black fruit flavours; soft tannins. Trophy at Cowra and double gold at the 2001 Sydney International Wine Competition.
Australian Wine Companion 2003 2002
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; the rich bouquet is flooded with ripe, sweet plum and prune fruit, the palate likewise extremely rich and concentrated, yet not extractive, adding dark chocolate to the range of flavours. Trophy and gold medal Mudgee Wine Show 1999 and gold Rutherglen Wine Show 1999
