One of the small number of Reliables to appear in all editions of Quaff, and so it's a wine to watch. In 2005 it lacks the vibrance of the previous vintage but still retains many of the characters that made the 2004 wine a hit. It's fresh and clean with lemon citrus and straw characters and a refreshingly dry finish.

Here's a game we play when we get bored on fishing trips: did Tom trade up or down when he moved from cruising to cruzing? (Katie thingo never features.) Interestingly, most blokes say yes but women almost always say definitely no (not that we ever let them come fishing). I think we all know Nic has traded up. It's about what firs together. And sem and chardy do. Not hyper-fashionable, but just a comfie old couple.

Epitomises the blend; fresh, clean and lively- in fact, vibrant - with a pleasing mouthfeel and crisp, dry finish.

This is another example of Rosemount stretching its boundaries across the country to find the ingredients for this easy-drinking white blend. The semillon comes from heir home vineyards in the Hunter as well as the plains of the Murray Valley while the chardonnay is sourced from McLaren Vale (which is looking more and more a Rosemount stronghold), as well as the Hunter and Murray valleys. The 2000 harvest was ideal in the Hunter but much more difficult in the South Australian regions. Chief Winemaker Philip Shaw has opted for a touch more complexity by giving some of the chardonnay a couple of months in oak. The 2000 Rosemount Semillon Chardonnay is a straightforward, easy-drinking white with a pleasant mouthfeel, some apple and tropical fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness on the finish.

Medium yellow-green; the bouquet is soft with touches of melon and grass, the light- to medium-weight palate clean but somewhat plain and amorphous
