James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Strong, verging on rustic structure and flavours; black fruits, earth and tannins interwoven; heavily stained cork ominous.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2004 Vintage) says
It's a year or two from full maturity, but this has just entered its mellow-drinking peak (sounds like us). It tastes of leather, ironstone and blackberries and, while it's a satisfying drop, it lacks a bit of life, a bit of X-factor. Spicy finish and sound throughout.
The Big Red Wine Book 2009/10 2009
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Full-bodied; very ripe blackcurrant and blackberry fruit; persistent but ripe tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
Jeremy Oliver (2003 Vintage) says
Richly flavoured, firm and relatively fast-maturing, this is a slightly cooked and currant like cabernet Its bouquet is raisined and meaty, while the palate offers a rather hollow and raw edged express on of plum, currant and blackberry like fruit.
Australian Wine Annual 2007 2006
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Supple texture and mouthfeel; black fruits/blackcurrant supported by sweet oak and savoury, ripe tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
Jeremy Oliver (2002 Vintage) says
A firm and pliant cabernet with a minty, floral bouquet of briary cassis blackberries and dark plums supported by slightly raw and cedary oak, with an undergrowth-like background Full to medium weight, it's smooth and supple, delivering a vibrant and very intense expression of cassis and dark plum flavour integrated with chocolate and vanilla oak. It should develop well over the medium term as its oak settles down.
