Ross Estate Wines Single Vineyard Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

When you think Chardonnay you would barely consider the Barossa Valley, yet there is a rich tradition with this vartiety in the region although it’s a warmer climate. Chardonnay can pretty much grow anywhere, it’s up to the winemaker as to how it’s executed. Opulence is a word that springs to mind when describing this rich Chardy from Ross Estate. It’s got a lively nose of melon and citrus with a balanced core of lavish French oak that adds depth and character. Barrel characters have added nutty, textured nuances before a clean acid finish.

Winemaker's Notes

This individual wine is crafted to create a seamless harmony between fruit purity and fine French oak. The nose displays melons, citrus and guava with supporting spice from the oak. Lees stirring has added weight and creaminess to the palate and intertwines with the nutty, spiced oak and defined melons and tropical fruits. The acidity is cleansing and enhances the fruit expression. A great choice.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Lively lemony acidity lifts the wine out of the ruck, especially commendable in the warm vintage; stone fruit flavours supported by subtle oak.
