Nick Stock (2006 Vintage) says
Doug Govan's mataro is a beauty, with its dark, inky colour, mixed blue- and dark-fruit aromas, spice and tarry black liqorice - striking. The palate's really rich and brooding, sweeping ripe dark fruits through with some leathery spices on a solid core of rich, strapping tannin. Impressive.

Nick Stock (2005 Vintage) says
This straight mataro is full of darkly brooding complexity, peppered plums and spices, very ripe, very earthy and nicely met by savoury oak. Super-ripe palate with powerful deep plum and liquorice mataro flavour, full tannin sweep, soft and sweet, some tawny/leathery complexity through the finish. Hedonistic
