Ruinart Blanc de Blancs

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This has to be one of the best value blanc de blanc champagnes around, and it's one helluva drink! Delicate aromas of citrus, peaches, buttered toast and dairy rise from the glass, whilst the palate is elegant, crunchy and dry, with lemon and honey flavours, a fine bubble, and a long, slightly creamy, talcy finish. Lovely stuff with freshly-shucked oysters.

Winemaker's Notes

Beautiful pale golden yellow colour with gentle green reflections, a vibrant, luminous colour. Active effervescence with a persistent release of bubbles.

At first very intense on the nose, with fresh fruit notes, particularly ripe citrus fruits. A second refined floral nose with notes of white flowers and fruits (white peaches, pineapple). A supple, harmonious attack on the palate, very rounded.

Vinosity that is not excessive, supported by excellent freshness.

Notes of nectarines, citrus fruits with a pleasant mineral quality in the finish. Long, very refreshing finish.

A perfect champagne for aperitifs, particularly in spring and summer.

It is an excellent accompaniment for seafood and shellfish; perfect with a sea bass or bream tartare. It would also be very good with seared sole.

Nick Stock says
Handsomely packaged, this little Blanc de Blancs cuts a mean shape. Superbly precise champagne, refreshing and intense, subtle toast and honey complexity woven through pure chardonnay fruits. Engaging, finely textured bubbles; oozes class and style, and really flavoursome. Oyster shell finish.

ÒChardonnay is close to my heart,Ó waxes Ruinart Chef de Caves Frederic Pana•otis. Little wonder, when it's as elegant and refined as this. The consummate aperitif, singing with a chorus of lemons and high notes of cinnamon.
