Lovely crowd-pleasing style - though the price seems to be creeping up. Or maybe we're just getting older. It has drinkability written all over it - and throughout it. Cuddly choc-berry flavour, sweet and plump, but with a groove of drying tannin. Trust us, it works a treat - though we guess you need to like red wine with bubbles in it to start with. Sparkling-red fans will gobble it up.

Vibrant colour and juicy young blue fruit bouquet; quite sweet, but the balance offers a fun sparkling red

There's a history of this blend being made into a sparkling red - and a good history at that. It's a decent wine but, as Walsh noted, it's a bit tough on the gums. This is because it has quite a bit of coarse, wrenching tannin. It tastes of vanilla oak, horse-hair, blackberry and chocolate and, while the amount of flavour is good, we're less sure about the way that flavour is presented.
