Rob Geddes MW (2010 Vintage) says
tasted twice Modern Australian rich ripe blackberry fruit with licorice, pastry, cinnamon smoky oak.The palate is thick, ripe with sweet blackberry flavours lavishly spread across the generous middle palate that slips on the finish into dryness as a young wine. Drink after 2016.

Good crimson-purple; the bouquet has attractive spice and pepper nuances under the black fruits on which it is based; the palate builds on those characters with delicious supple, silky texture running through to a long finish.

A medium-bodied raspberry shiraz with solid, even and long tannins when young turning savoury with meat stock characters with age.

Medium red-purple, still bright and healthy; an elegant shiraz, with seductive, mulberry and cherry fruit that harmoniously blends with the oak and fine, ripe tannins; the wine glides along the mouth, with a long, balanced finish, every component in perfect balance.

Very good crimson-red hue; dark berry and licorice fruit is supported by a touch of mocha oak on the supple medium-bodied palate; good balance and length.

A medium-bodied mix of sweet black fruits and more spicy, savoury notes, but by no means sweet and sour; good tannin, structure and oak; nice wine.

Medium to full red-purple; a smooth, moderately intense bouquet with plummy/spicy fruit and delicate cedary oak, then a fresh, light to medium-bodied and well-balanced palate with plum and dark cherry fruit supported by perfectly judged oak.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet has abundant dark berry fruit with some more earthy, savoury overtones, and the palate lives up to the promise of the bouquet, with much more weight and concentration than previous releases. Soft, chewy tannins complete a wine with lots of development potential.
