Sacred Hill Brokenstone Reserve Merlot

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; a concentrated, rich bouquet which takes some time to open up, but does so revealing powerful, ripe berry fruit which spills over into the sweet, smooth palate with touches of liquorice and spice. Very long but, like some of the other Hawke's Bay Merlots of the vintage, seems to stray into Cabernet Sauvignon territory.

Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
The debut 1995 vintage is a striking Hawke's Bay red with a lovely concentration of flavour - warm, plummy, spicy, complex and persistent. The weighty 1997 is less exciting but still rewarding in a very forward style with deep colour, rich, plummy, complex, faintly herbal flavours wrapped in sweet oak, a creamy texture and silky-smooth finish.
