Finding a pinot noir from NZ at this price is a rarity, but when you do they tend to be highly slurpable wines. This offering from Saint Clair is a fun loving, fruity style that shows lots of spiced red cherries on the nose with sniffs of strawberries and mocha. The palate is medium-bodied and easy going with fine, friendly tannins, a slightly creamy texture, and a tidy, red fruited finish. It's made to drink early, so try it with some lamb snaggs off the barbie.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Deep garnet.

Nose: Ripe red cherries, black-currents and raspberries with perfumed spicy notes and delicate fresh coffee.

Palate: Bright, lifted ripe red plum, red cherry and blackcurrant follows with well integrated fine textured tannin and well-balanced acidity. The finish introduces fresh coffee and vanilla notes with a pleasant length.

Food: Well matched with barbecued venison or seared lamb.

Cellaring: Drinking beautifully from release, this wine can be enjoyed young or with careful cellaring, will mature into a fuller, more complex wine that can be enjoyed for the next five years.
