Saint Clair Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2012 Vintage) says
This deeply coloured, single-vineyard red from the Gimblett Gravels in Hawke's Bay is a blend of cabernet sauvignon (39 per cent), merlot (36 per cent) and melbec (25 per cent). Generous and supple, it has very good depth of blackcurrant, plum and red berry flavours, fine-grained tannins and drink-young appeal.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied style with good depth of fresh, plummy, spicy, slightly leafy flavours, seasoned with toasty American oak.
WINESTATE Volume 34 (2011) 2011
Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
The buoyantly fruity 1996 is an attractive drink-young style, released six months after the vintage. Ruby-hued, it is an unwooded Marlborough wine with pleasing depth of fresh, supple blackcurrant/plum flavours.
