Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
The 1997 vintage is a distinctive wine from Montana, with the unmistakeable, earthy, gamey aromas of Pinotage. The palate is soft and full-bodied in a savoury, clearly varietal style with impressive flavour depth. Even better, the 1998 was grown at Korokipo and matured in American and French oak casks (one-third new). Richly coloured and vibrantly fruity, it's a concentrated red with fresh, strong, plummy, gamey flavours, warm and spicy. It's likely to be at its best during 2000-01.
