The 1997 vintage from Montana is a full-bodied and fragrant, moderately complex style with ripe cherry/plum flavours and spicy oak. Grown in the Fairhall vineyard and matured in French oak barriques (15 per cent new), the 1998 is ruby-hued, with warm, cherryish, spicy flavours of good depth in a fruity, forward style with some savoury complexity. Drink now onwards.
