Rob Geddes MW (2012 Vintage) says
Beautiful in the sense of perfectly ripened sunny pear, apple, citrus fruit and blossom aromas. The silky pear and citrus creamy palate flows long and deep and is easy to drink, with or wthout food, and the finish is layered softly pulpy fruit.

These wines have élan, intense pear and apple-like chardonnay, generous fruit when young with restrained zingy acidity.

Deep citrus and stone fruit with a trace of cereal and grapefruit emerge in the nose. The palate is immensely powerful and precisely controlled. Already showing a degree of layered complexity which can only deepen with age. That stone fruit is balanced by a racy minerality on the finish which is the key feature of the wine.

The last few years of Salitage chardonnay have been some of the best. This is a cracker, combining elegance and delicacy with real power and persistence. Grapefruit, melon and spices on the nose with a little subtle creamy stone fruit. The palate is tight and crisp with a lovely texture in the mouth. Excellent wine.

There's a little more in this Chardonnay than the previous vintage though it retains an essentially leaner style which is attractive. Smells of cashew, grapefruit and just a faint hint of toastiness. The palate is lovely with its fine, delicate poise and excellent length. One of the most complete Salitage Chardonnay.

Crisp, clean and lively, reflecting its relatively low alcohol; stone fruit and citrus, pronounced acidity on the finish; restrained oak.

A lovely wine; stone fruit and citrus drive both the bouquet and palate, French oak merely a backdrop; long, clean and perfectly balanced finish.

The bouquet of stone fruit and melon is woven through smell of nuts and fresh toast. There is a superb palate structure that has worked the leesy fruit with subtle toasty oak. I like the mouth feel with is tight and focused with a long finish supported by crisp acid and quality oak.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Medium straw-yellow; there are some honeyed notes to the bouquet, and a whisper of burnt fermentation yeast; the oak is relatively restrained. After an uncertain start, the wine gains some stature on the palate, which has ripe fig/melon fruit of good length and intensity, helped by a touch of spicy oak. Emphatic drink now.
