Max Allen & Peter Forrestal (2002 Vintage) says
Quaff 2004 Wine of the Year, and it's still available 12 months later, better than ever and cheaper now than it was then. No wonder Beringer Blass are trying a new marketing thrust for Saltram. This is a smooth, ripe Barossa red with powerful, rich, concentrated plum and mocca flavours. Approachable now, though it can be cellared in the short term.

Ken Gargett (2002 Vintage) says
Since I remember this wine being available in time for last year's book, I'm thinking it might run out soon after the release of this one, so get in quick. Saltram makes plenty of good wines under a multitude of labels and this Barossa Cabernet Merlot is a crackerÑfull of rich, ripe blackcurranty fruit and a bit of extra grunt from some oak. Place yourself in front of your favourite gourmet burger (it must have beetroot) and get stuck in.
