Saltram Winemaker's Selection Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Top class cabernet, with a deep, dark and heady bouquet of cassis, dark plums, dark chocolate and cedar backed by nuances of dark cherries, fennel and dried herbs. Long, firmish and fine-grained, with a pristine, seamless presence of pure, penetrative fruit underpinned by mouthwatering tannins and knit with tight-grained oak, it finishes sweet and savoury, with exemplary balance, freshness and focus.

Very flavoursome, full-on style with good fruit weight and long, firm tannins.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
A vintage which helped cabernet sauvignon retain personality and typicity in the Barossa; the wine is flush with cassis and blackcurrant, soft, ripe tannins, and good oak.

Campbell Mattinson (2004 Vintage) says
The first release of this was with the 2002 vintage and although it was an advanced, leathery wine, its charm and quality was substantial. The 2004 is fresher and juicier. It's also a single vineyard wine from Dorrien (old school Aussie red lovers prick up your ears now). 2004 RELEASE Vibrant, lively, vigorous and persistent. This is super quality. It tastes of blackcurrant and background cedarwood and there are flinty, raw, smoky edges, maybe the odd toss of mintiness helping the aroma lift from the glass. It is both substantial and sophisticated. DRINK 2013-2023.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Ultra-powerful, concentrated and focused emblem of a great vintage; blackcurrant with touches of cedar and earth.
