Very good wine from a very good vintage. At the moment the overlay of oak is quite obvious with its cedary savoury characters. The fruit however is deeply concentrated and immensely powerful albeit with an elegance and refinement. It’s slightly leafy with cool mint characters that will gradually merge into the wine. Great for the cellar:

Sweet herbal aromas with a dash of caramel. Fleshy, fruity and well balanced palate.

A stylish and refined cabernet that has been built for the longer haul. The oak is really holding it on a tight line at the moment but once you dig into it those fine angular tannins and refined fruit qualities emerge. The balance is excellent and it all comes together beautifully.

Deep crimson-purple a full-bodied cabernet with outstanding varietal character and structure, which has devoured the 100% new French oak in which it spent 21 months; great mouthfeel and balance

A most stylish and refined Cabernet that is clearly the best Saracen wine to date. Has a silky fine texture with fine tannins, fine grained oak and supple medium weight fruit. Tightly held but with some sweet middle palate delish. Nice wine.

A considerable achievement to produce this much fruit in '06, but the alcohol and the lack of structure tell the tale. Nice enough wine, but overpriced.

Astute fruit selection from a very good vineyard has allowed this wine to be created. It has a leafy minty varietal cabernet aroma with subtle understated oak. On the palate the fine sinewy tannins, medium to full-bodied fruit and gentle hint of oak come together in unison. A quality wine of some class.
