Scotchmans Hill Bellarine Peninsula Late Harvest Riesling (375ml)

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Late harvest means that this is a sweeter wine style that would go equally well with a chicken liver pate, or a fruity dessert. This offering from Scotchmans Hill shows smells of bright, spicy citrus and honeysuckle florals on the nose, before the palate kicks in with a decent hit of sweetness upfront, a nice citrusy centre, and a lemon sorbet finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Pale gold in appearance.

Nose: Displays lifted floral aromas, citrus notes and dried fruits with spice in the background.

Palate: The rich and luscious palate is dominated by ripe nectarines, citrus fruits and spice. The sweetness is balanced by firm acidity giving the wine overall balance.

Food: Dessert or cheeses.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2020.

Ralph Kyte-Powell (2012 Vintage) says
A fresh nose reminiscent of sweet citrus, flowers and spice. The palate is light, succulent and sweet, balanced by bracing acidity to give it a sherbet zest.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Attractive wine; with 125 g/l of residual sugar, it is sweet enough to satisfy those with a sweet tooth, and not so sweet it will put off those who don’t. A nice lime juice core.

Lightly sweet, with green apple and quince flavours; fine and even on the finish.
