Rob Geddes MW (2011 Vintage) says
A fresh and modern style of shiraz. Red fruits and black pepper spice start this wines engines. The medium bodied juicy palate is ripe round and lively fresh, moderate oak and a pleasant berry spice mix. If you see it drink it!

Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Elegant and spicy, with a dusty, clove-like and dark-fruited fragrance of plums, blackberries backed by complex, meaty and funky nuances. It's long and smooth, with a raisined expression of black and red fruits and older oak framed by pliant, loose-knit tannins, finishing gentle, savoury and faintly greenish, with a lingering core of fruit and licorice.

Only a medium-weight wine but they have so much packed into them. Cool-climate fresh berry savoury smoked meats and fragrant black pepper; medium bodied supple and fleshy with ripe blackberry to finish. A gem

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Hand-picked and destemmed into small fermenters for a 5-day pre-fermentation soak, then wild yeast-fermented before spending 15 months in French barriques; has a striking vibrancy of flavour to its red and black fruits, with spice and licorice also in play on the long, medium-bodied palate.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
The winery formula: hand-picked, destemmed, cold soaked for five days, then seven days wild yeast fermentation in small vats; matured in new to four-year-old Troncais oak for 15 months. The medium-bodied and fresh fruit belies the 14.5% alcohol, and the wine has abundant red and black fruit flavours.

Dark, earthy, savoury and full of liqueur-soaked black plum; the palate is dark and brooding, with a generous dollop of spice and fruit, elements of leather and vibrant, almost crunchy acidity to conclude.

Dense purple-crimson; a rich and dense full-bodied shiraz with blackberry, licorice and a touch of dark chocolate; has layers of flavour and good tannin structure, French oak controlled. An immensely long future.

Spicy red fruit aromas, with quite a succulent and juicy palate; medium-bodied and focused on the finish.

Only a medium-weight wine but they have so much packed into them. Firmer than the Swan Bay with cool climate berry and spice; medium-bodied with ripe raspberry to finish. Delicious!

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
High-toned, multi-spice and crushed black pepper notes are sustained and balanced by abundant black fruits, the oak and tannin handling providing yet further support and, ultimately, balance. Clearly, you pay the money and take your choice.

Unconvincing colour; the bouquet promises a little more, but not the elegant and intense spray of red fruits of every description, plus a dusting of spice, which the palate provides. Jekyll and Hyde, if there ever was one.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Attractive medium-bodied; very well balanced and structured; ripe, small black fruits; good tannin and oak management.

Jeremy Oliver (2003 Vintage) says
Meaty, spicy, earthy and reductive, with aromas of dark plums, blackberries and sweet vanilla oak over smoky charcuterie-like complexity. Vibrant and juicy, the moderately deep palate delivers a vibrant and smooth expression of small berries, blood plums and leathery influences supported by cedar/vanilla oak and tightly knit, drying tannins. Finishes with spice and savoury influences.

Herbs, spices, licorice and red fruits; satiny tannins; crisp acidity.

Very complex Cote Rotie lookalike; black fruits, spice and game; sure to raise argument about brett.

James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
A new arrival in the Scotchmans Hill portfolio, made from recent estate plantings at Geelong, and promising much for the riper vintages. An exotic array of licorice, spice, blackberry and cherry aromas and flavours are the fulcrum of a wine with excellent texture and structure, drawing on fine tannins and judiciously handled oak.
