Scotchmans Hill Swan Bay Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This bonny medium-term drinking chardy is a fruity number, with just a kiss of nutty oak. Aromas of stone fruits, yellow citrus and honeydew melons run around the nose hairs to tempt the senses, then the palate kicks in with bright lemony flavours, a creamy mouthfeel, and a brisk, rounded cashew nut-like finish. enjoy with a chicken burger!

Winemaker's Notes

Nose: Nectarine and white peach with citrus fruits dominating the bouquet. This is complimented by creamy overtones, spice and cedar oak.

Palate: The palate provides up-front fruit flavours of nectarine, white peach, melon and lemon citrus; with a mineral edge throughout the palate. Creamy and nutty oak characters round out the wine, which has a long and lingering back palate.

Cellaring: This wine would be best enjoyed over the next 2 to 4 years.

Alcohol: 13.5%

Bakery cooked apple aromas with caramel and fresh pear.Cool and elegant with a deep pear flavoured middle palate, fresh, flavoursome with appealing acid length and sustained pear. Bright and refined style especially for the money.

Some oak has been introduced, says the back label. Well, itÕs not obvious, and not really needed, for the wine has pristine freshness, excellent varietal expression and is ludicrously good value with its grapefruit and melon fruit flying from the masthead.

Apple to pear chardonnay that is both delicate and sustained. Appealing medium bodied fresh palate with stone fruit and a clean finish, with subtle oak toast adding length. Good quality for the price and mid week drinking.

A fragrant and supple chardonnay from Mornington Peninsula/Geelong; mouthfilling stone fruit flavours drive what is at best a lightly oaked, perhaps unoaked, wine.

A wholly stylish second label, with crystal clear cool-grown fruit expression of stone fruit, melon and citrus, the oak in restraint.

Light to medium green-yellow; the moderately intense bouquet is on the riper side, with nectarine and fig fruit; the palate has plenty of flavour, with slight sweetness adding to mass market appeal.
