Scotchmans Hill The Hill Cabernet Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Fruity, easy and early drinking is the theme with this excellent quaffer from Scotchmans Hill. It's juicy and lightly-oaked showing smells and flavours of black and red berries, spiced cherries and toastiness. It's all supported by friendly tannins, bright acidity, and a hint of mint on the finish. Excellent with a cheeseburger!

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Bright ruby in colour.

Nose: The nose is complex with ripe blackcurrants, red berries, cherries and plums with spice and a touch of mint rounded out by spicy charry oak.

Palate: A rich and full flavoured wine with sweet fruits of blackcurrants, plums and cherries with red berries in the background. This is complemented with spice, cedery oak and a charry finish. The wine has excellent texture and balance and should be enjoyed over the next 3 to 4 years.

Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon 65%, Shiraz 35%

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Fresh, vibrant, juicy red fruits; a lively finish, crisp and crunchy, almost as if it were white rather than red. Value plus.
