Secret Stone Marlborough Pinot Gris

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Named after the rare and sought-after greenstones found under the riverbeds through the South Island of NZ, this cheeky little pinot gris is a true EnZed-er at heart. It displays lots of varietal apples and pears on the nose, with a bit of NZ tropical fruits and citrus in the mix, too. The palate is bright, more medium-bodied and lively, with a kiss of sweetness upfront, lemon and orange flavours, and a thirst-quenching finish. Perfect chilled down to enjoy with your mates.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Light straw.

Nose: Aromas of freshly sliced Bosc pears with fragrant lime zest characters.

Palate: Viscous with a hint of sweetness for balance. A true expression of a Marlborough Pinot Gris.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Simple, well-made, somewhat understated wine that's sweet and nutty.
Winestate magazine 2010
Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
From Matua Valley, the 2009 vintage is ripely scented and mouthfilling, with very good depth of slightly sweet pear, spice and stone-fruit flavours, a slightly oily texture, and good delicacy and harmony.
