Seifried Nelson Gewurztraminer

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2011 Vintage) says
Typically a floral, well-spiced wine, of excellent quality and value. The intensely varietal 2010 is exotically scented, in a medium style (16 grams/litre of residual sugar), with rich, peachy, gingery, spicy flavours. The 2011 is fractionally drier (14 grams/litre of residual sugar), with mouth filling body and fresh, spicy flavours, showing very good delicacy and depth. Finely balanced, it should open out well during 2012-13.

Gewurztraminer is represented in the Seifried range in two styles: medium-dry and the sweet Ice Wine. This is typically a floral, well-spiced, crisp wine, very easy-drinking, and recent vintages have been of excellent quality. The 2004 vintage, grown in the Redwood Valley, has a fresh, well-spiced bouquet leading into a medium to full-bodied palate with finely balanced, ripe flavours of lychees and spice, showing good depth, and a sweetish (20 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish.

Gewurztraminer is represented in the Seifried range in two styles: medium-dry and the sweet Ice Wine. This is typically a floral, well-spiced, crisp wine, very easy-drinking. The 1998 is clearly a top vintage. Highly satisfying, it's a crisp, fairly tight wine with good weight and excellent depth of lemon/spice flavour, delicate, dryish and lingering. Lovely drinking from now onwards and fine value.

Gewurztraminer is represented in the Seifried range in two styles: medium-dry and the sweet ice Wine. This is typically a floral, well-spiced, crisp wine, very easy-drinking. The 1996 vintage is a clearly varietal, well-structured wine, firm and dryish, with persistent lemon/spice flavours and good acid spice. A very sound wine aging potential, and priced right. The 97 is a well balanced wine with fairly rich, crisp, well spiced flavour
