James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Deep crimson; dark brooding on the bouquet, offering lashings of black fruits, with red fruit highlights, not to mention mocha and roasted meat; the full-bodied palate is lively and complex, with tangy acidity providing a counterpoint to the dark fruit and ample firm but fine tannins.

There's a bit of wine show bling on this full-blooded red out of McLaren Vale, and there is certainly a lot to it! The nose is saturated in deep, dark fruits and chocolate, along with some earthy pepper and anise spices. The palate is rich and luscious, with dark berry and mocha flavours, a touch of firmness to the tannins, and a juicy, choc finish that will see this wine push on for the next 10-years!
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Deep crimson-purple; a complex wine from start to finish, with a compelling array of regional and varietal influences in a bitter chocolate/savoury/spicy spectrum, and no dead fruit notes; while medium-to full-bodied, balance is the keynote. Why the indifferent cork?

Full-on McLaren Vale Shiraz, with full-bodied potent black fruits and a strong veneer of dark chocolate; the tannin structure is good.

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Subdued but stylish nose with delicate coffee nuances. Palate has good oak/fruit integration and ripe tannins.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Very concentrated colour and bouquet; lashings of oak, mocha, fruitcake and dark berry fruits; thick and unctuous across the palate, but with good acidity for the silky textured finish.

WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Complex nose of red fruits layered with toasty cedar oak and lifted with cloves and spices. Supple palate with good weight and length of varietal fruit and nice oak/tannin balance.

Excellent colour; has all the flavour of the standard version, and also all the structure and discipline partly missing from that wine. Totally delicious, with perfect line and structure.
