Shaw Vineyard Winemaker's Riesling

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

If you love great Australian Riesling, keep this one to yourself because once the word gets out it is sure to disappear real quick.

A classic style with zesty, limey citrus fruit finishing as fresh and lively as the day it was bottled. No wonder it has got a handful of medals including a Gold at the the NSW wine show last year. I, for one, would be pretty happy to spend over $20 on this which means it is the real deal. Drink it now or give it a couple of years to fully flower

Winemaker's Notes

This elegant cool climate riesling displays a floral, limey bouquet with a long, crisp and citrus dominated palate. Well balanced acids which will contribute to the aging potential of this wine.

Shaw Vineyard Estate Awards & Accolades

"Despite the name, this is the lowest of three levels of riesling at Shaw, and is remarkable value for money. It has intense lemon and lime aromas with a slight edginess, and is soft and gentle in the mouth, clearly made for earlier drinking." 94 Points and 5 Stars - Gourmet Traveller Wine, January 2011

"Boutique cool-climate maker Shaw Vineyard Estate, between Canberra and Yass, has released a well-priced Winemakers Selection 2009 Riesling that’s a great drop with Thai and other spicy Asian dishes." - David Ellis, Vintnews December 2010

"The 2009 Winemaker's Selection is green-tinted pale straw and has scents of orange blossom and id talc. Crisp grapefruit flavour shows on the front of the palate and lime zest, green apple and nascent honey characters combine on the middle palate. Fresh river-stone acid features at the finish. Drink with sushi, smoked salmon and dill quiche or creamy chicken and avacado fettuccini" - Newcastle Herald, February 2011
