Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
The golden, honey-sweet 2003 vintage was hand-picked in Marlborough over a two-week period at an average of 42 brix, with a powerful botrytis influence. It tastes like liquid honey, with sweet (230 grams/litre of residual sugar), concentrated, treacly flavours, impressive weight and an oily richness

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Full, lemony, sweet and crisp, the 1998 vintage of Matua Valley's Marlborough wine was harvested at 39 to 42 brix with an 80 per cent Botrytis infection, and the wine was partly fermented in barrels. Bright yellow in hue, with a clearly oaked bouquet, it shows good weight (13.5 per cent alcohol), ripeness and flavour concentration, with a gentle Botrytis influence, and should mature very well.
