WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Some really good varietal fruit here, nicely matched by a decent amount of pencil shavings-like oak. Great palate structure and length - evolving very nicely.

WINESTATE (2005 Vintage) says
Tight and black, with loads of sweet fruit lurking below. Intense but simple and still very youthful.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2005 Vintage) says
This book is full of references to the Jimmy Watson Trophy - but not by intention. This cabernet won it a couple of years ago. We're a bit surprised that this floated the boat of the Melbourne show judges - not that its quality is in doubt. It has thick, chocolatey, blackberried fruit power with attractive glints of bright violets and raspberry. There's sweet, raisiny fruit flavour too, and its tannin structure is fine and velvety. Does it leave a slightly bitter taste after you've swallowed it, though? We might just need another glass to make sure. Waiter!
