Simonnet-Febvre Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here we have a sparkling wine from France, but it can't be called 'Champagne' because it is from the Burgundy region. However, it is a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir (two of the main varieties in Champagne), and it's made the same way, so go figure! It's quite elegant in style showing some nice stone fruits, a touch of red berries with a slight hint of baked pastries. The palate of full-flavoured and fine with a racy acid line, the merest hint of sweetness and a dry finish. The good thing is it's a fraction of the price of Champagne, too.

Winemaker's Notes

Aged for 3 years, this delicate and full flavoured non vintage sparkling shows the fine aromas of Chardonnay and the power of Pinot Noir.

Appearance: A harmoniously balanced wine with fine bubbles, a persistent foam and a wonderful length in the mouth.

Nose: It is fresh and powerful on the nose with aromas of ripe yellow fruits.

Food: Drink this crémant as a chilled aperitif, as it comes or with a liqueur such as crème de cassis or have it with dinner.

Grape Variety: 60 % Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir.
