James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Opens quite softly, but picks up speed and intensity on the mid- to back-palate with quite luscious blackcurrant fruit; good tannin and oak management.

The Sirromet Winery is the most prominent of Queensland's Granite Belt wineries. This is a gamey, herbal expression of cabernet sauvignon with a reasonable amount of flavour through the middle of it, but bitter edges at either end. It tastes of mulberry and capsicum, and some less likeable notes of animal and dust. Good, firm tannin but overall it doesn't offer a great deal of pleasure.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2006 Vintage) says
The Sirromet Winery is one of the true innovators of the Australian wine industry - a real rising force. Good on 'em! We hope we're not being mean to this wine - we've given it a terrific score, but the wine may well be even better than that. It's curranty and dusty and has all those good cabernet flavours, its toasty, coffeed oak sitting snugly in among everything. It has a good, soft finish and yet it's well structured - it tastes excellent now, but should taste better in another twelve months.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Some colour development; a mix of cedar, earth and black fruits in a medium-bodied frame; savoury but balanced tannins, and good oak.

WINESTATE (2005 Vintage) says
Floral aromas of jonquils and violets. Earthy palate with nice long backbone of graceful tannins.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Immaculately crafted; blackcurrant and blackberry fruit plus fine, ripe tannins; very good balance and length. Has developed impressively, gaining elegance and a trio of gold medals along the way.
