Sirromet Signature Collection Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is quite a full, almost 'old school' chardonnay style from Sirromet that has seen some generous oak. Smells of peaches and cream sprinkled with roasted nuts waft out of the glass, with hints of citrus and butter. The palate is fulsome and creamy, with a decent hit of toasted vanillan oak and some lemony acidity freshening the finish. This would be great with a creamy smoked fish pie.

Winemaker's Notes

Made in the traditional manner: Crushed, pressed and then wild fermented in new and aged French oak. Aged on lees for 14 months, stirred occasionally. A small parcel of malolactic fermentation was induced for extra complexity. Individual barrel selection post-aging to create this wonderful blend, then stored at 5°C for two months to allow the integration of the fruit components before bottling.

Appearance: Lime to straw with a hint of apple green.

Nose: A lifted zest of wild limes, creamy tropical white fruits and exotic nashi fruit tones.

Palate: A lovely intense palate of wild fermented Chardonnay, creamy texture, slight nuttiness, and a wonderful array of melon, peach, lime and fresh French vanillin oak and nice spinal acidity.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2020.
