Sirromet Signature Collection Merlot

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

At 14% alcohol, this is quite a full, plush style of merlot from Sirromet that should go down well with some lamb chops. Ripe red fruits, plums and Christmas cake smells lift from the glass, along with whiffs of soft spice and beetroot. The palate is fuller-bodied and fruity, with a bit of grip to the tannins thanks to some generous oak, friendly acidity, and a plummy finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Merlot can be a hard varietal to make well consistently; on the Granite Belt we have a unique vineyard methods that gives us a range of styles to create options and the end result in mind. We aim for a fruit driven style with good tannins and not drying or tough.

Appearance: Dark cherry red with purple hues.

Nose: Fresh, berry, fruitcake, plums and rhubarb. Soft lifted American oak behind the lovely fruit.

Palate: Dense Merlot fruit, wild berries, mocha orange, shaved chocolate, fine tannin structure, juicy mid palate, hints of quail, plums and rhubarb, fine tapered integrated oak.

Cellaring: Drink now until 2019.
