Sirromet St Jude's Road Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Sirromet head for the price stratosphere with this single vineyard cab sav out of the granite belt of Queensland. It's quite an 'in your face' style with lots of dark fruits, tobacco leaf and cedar on the nose, so there's plenty going on. The palate kicks in with fulsome, sweet-fruited flavours of blackcurrants and plums, with generous licks of mocha, a surprising softness to the tannins, and a long, richly-fruited finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Saint Jude’s is given the ‘Royal Treatment’ throughout the whole winemaking process from hand picking the parcels of superior fruit, to selecting the highest quality barrels for oak ageing. Saint Jude’s is a beautifully crafted, complex wine – it is rich and intense, yet elegant and refined. It has been described as ‘an iron fist in a velvet glove.’

Appearance: Dark cherry red.

Nose: Swiss chocolate, liquorice, violets and aniseed with soft vanillin notes.

Palate: A rich and opulent Cabernet Sauvignon with intense varietal characters of blueberries and cassis. Soft, silky tannins and a fresh tapered acidity providing rich primary fruit flavours on the finish and good depth.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2020.
