Skillogalee Cabernet Malbec Rose

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This 2012 Cabernet (65%), Malbec (35%) Rose was made from 100% estate sourced, dry grown Clare Valley fruit. Hand selected and harvested specifically for Rose wine, the resultant was a stylistic wine with itense fruit character and varietal expression.

All fruit was blended at the receival bin, destemmed and chilled to 5oC. To achieve the desirable level of colour and flavour extraction the fruit was left on skins for 16 – 20 hours in the press. The free-run juice and light pressings were then cold settled, racked and fermented cool to express the clean fruit characters of both the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Malbec.

The wine shows fresh cherry and cranberry on the nose. The palate is fresh and lively, held together by a fine structure of natural acid and soft tannin balance. This wine is best served chilled, especially during the warmer months and is a great match for most food styles, particularly fresh seafood and contemporary Asian cuisine.

Distinctive fuschia-pink; an aromatic red fruit bouquet leads into a lively palate, with good intensity and acidity; 15% malbec. Well above average

Next time you open a bottle of red and you suspect you’re not likely to finish it, crack a bottle of this serious rosé instead. It smells honeyed and sweet and the palate is rich and ripe with blueberry and cherry fruit. This is a real step up in concentration from those before it in this list, but with a dry, long finish, making it your ideal drinking partner if you’re eating Indian or Asian cuisine.

Lovely lifted confectionery aromas and a very bright and flavoursome, fruit-driven palate.

Aromatic red fruits; solid length and flavour, with a touch of sweetness on the finish.
