Spencer Hill Evans Vineyard Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2000 Vintage) says
Grown in the Upper Moutere hills of Nelson and French oak-aged for a year, with full malotactic fermentation, the 2000 vintage is an impressive wine. Full of character, smooth, full-bodied and creamy, it is a complex style with peachy, oaky, nutty flavours that build to a powerful finish.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
American Phil Jones built his Chardonnay reputation with a series of superb wines under the Tasman Bay label, blended from various regions, principally Marlborough. Now he's exploring the Chardonnay potential of the Upper Moutere hills, where the Spencer Hill winery is based. The 1998 vintage estate-grown, is a pale straw, nutty, citrus, savoury and complex wine with good acidity, still developing. It's an ideal food wine; open 2000.
