This medium to fuller style of shiraz from the land of Springboks and rugby would be great to crack open next time you want to throw a steak on the BBQ and invite a few mates over. It's full of peppered plums and toasted vanilla on the nose, whilst the palate is likewise, with softish tannins and bright acidity playing supporting roles, and a decent, peppery finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Vineyard: Trellised and bush vines aged 10-18 years yielded the grapes for this wine. The vines received supplementary drip irrigation and produced 10-14 tons per hectare.

Winemaking: Grapes were harvested by hand from selected vineyard blocks. Grapes received at cellar, de-stemmed, slightly crushed and pressed. The juice of the individual block selections (some kept separate and some blended) was temperature control fermented in stainless steel tanks, with selected yeast strains. The best tanks were selected for the final preparation of the blend. Maturation occurred on the fine lees for two months prior preparation for bottling.

Appearance: Dark ruby red.

Nose: Smoky, spicy, black pepper, dark fruit and spice on the nose.

Palate: Medium bodied blackberry, vanilla and plum on the palate.

Food: Pepper steak with wild mushrooms; roast venison with cherry sauce.

Alcohol: 14.3%
