Spinifex Barossa Valley Rose

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
This is pristine rosé that strikes high notes of rose petal and pink pepper that ring out from the bouquet like a bell, resonating into the palate and through a long, focused finish. For persistence, focus, texture and sheer purity, no 2011 Aussie rosé I’ve seen yet is as striking as this. It’s dry, savoury, gorgeously textured and mesmerisingly persistent.
James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
A 47/36/12/5% blend of grenache, cinsaut, mataro and shiraz. Bright salmon-pink; its scented bouquet is outgunned by the tinkling piano keys of the palate, skipping from one variety to the next and then back again. Roses seldom have fruit-derived mouthfeel, but this one does in spades, and is a bargain by any standards.

Wow, I love rose made with such sensitivity, subtlety and restraint. It's complex, precocious and lively, with a very pale pomegranate hue, flavours of guava, tomato relish and rose petal and a lingering finish of mouth filling texture.

Has greater purity, intensity, line and focus than its lesser (Rose) brother; the length of the floral garden of red fruits is exceptional.

Tidy price, à la mode packaging and an evocative blush hue, this wine ticks all the boxes before you even crack the bottle. The theme continues when you do, with an understated air of rose petals and flavours of subtle pomegranate, pink grapefruit and strawberry hull.
Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
One of the consistent stand-out rosé wines of the Barossa, this blend of grenache, cinsault, mataro and carignan is unashamedly inspired by the southern French styles. Pale salmon pink, it smells of spicy red fruits and gentle, sweet red perfume. The palate has clean lines of dry red fruit flavour and a crisp, clean finish, really dry and satisfying.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Salmon colour; a dry and complex rose with good flavour and weight; more than a passing nod to Provence.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Light, bright pink; comes together very well, with warm oriental spice, red fruits, and a dry finish with just the right acidity; 350 dozen made. Serious rose. Grenache/Cinsaut/Mourvedre/Shiraz.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Vivid fuchsia; bright, small red fruits and spice; a long, bone-dry finish; wild yeast, sur lies. Grenache/Cinsaut.
