Squealing Pig Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

If the term ‘Squeal like a pig’ gives you instant flashbacks to the movie Deliverance then we can help you with some vinous therapy. This is not the drink of choice of red necks, but it is a very smart savvy from the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. This is a more mineral laden style with the typical core of citrus and passionfruit that characterises the variety. Full of fresh acids and a creamy length it’s the ultimate pairing with a dozen oysters.

Winemaker's Notes

This year has been a really great year for Awatere they are ripe yet still moderate in Alc, with some blackcurrant notes also adding to the typical nettle like aromas so typical for the Awatere.

Appearance: Pale straw with a subtle green hue.

Nose: The nose has a combination of gooseberry and fresh garden herbs, pungent nettle and passionfruit aroma, underpinned with steely minerality.

Palate: The palate is clean and linear, with long, chalky acidity. Classic gooseberry and passionfruit flavours combine with mineral characteristics to form a complete and well balanced palate; layered and expressive.

Cellaring: Sauvignon is summer personified, and the wine should be drunk while still reflecting its vibrant zest fruit palate and liveliness.

Alcohol: 13.0%
